Linocut: Surface and Trace

Lines, forms, and rhythms are carved into the surface of the linoleum as interventions within a closed material.

Rather than focusing on color, attention is directed toward the surface itself. The paper is altered only through pressure and contact. It absorbs the structure of the carved linoleum without any additional layer, without representation. What emerges is a quiet transfer from one surface to another, a trace of pressure, resistance, and touch. What becomes visible is not only imagery, but also reliefs, compressions, and subtle shifts within the material. In the end, a series of paper works is created that are less images than impressions of touch: reduced traces of a process unfolding between cutting and pressing.
