Water sports are political. Both professional sports photos and private shots show how much water sports have been shaped by political systems and social ideas since its beginnings. How is this reflected in photography?
Participants will gain insights into the exhibition and examine the interaction between the medium of photography and the staging of water sports. What aesthetics do the postcards from the imperial era have? How did the National Socialists use the medium and sport to spread their racist ideology of people and bodies? Can you tell from the photos whether the photographer is from the East or the West?
