A hands-on workshop evening as part of the Cohesion in Diversity campaign day

Historical printing workshop at the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum

Letterpress printing connects - across borders and languages. On UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity, we let the letters speak: We invite you to print together in German and Turkish. We will be using historical typesetting boxes from the 1950s that tell their own story. Why are certain Turkish characters missing from the former Kreuzberg print shop that now stands in the museum? Together we will fill these gaps creatively and design our messages for culturally diverse coexistence in our society. Come along, make a statement and help us print!

The evening is organized by the Verein für die Schwarze Kunst e.V. and is aimed at anyone who would like to experience hand typesetting and letterpress printing and thus the diversity of writing and its history in a very practical way. The result can be taken home as a souvenir.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is not necessary.

The evening will be led by:

Anne König, letterpress printer and printing engineer, regularly provides insights into the history of the workshop and the traditional working methods of hand typesetting and letterpress printing and is a board member of the Verein für die Schwarze Kunst.

Katharina Walter, typographer and cultural scientist and also a board member of the Black Arts Association, researches the history of typesetting. She loves working with other people to keep letterpress printing alive.

Sener Abanozoglu, entrepreneur and lecturer at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, supports the workshop as a member of the German-Turkish community with his ideas and enjoyment of linguistic diversity.

Kitap baskısı, sınırların ve dillerin ötesinde birleştirir. UNESCO Dünya Kültürel Çeşitlilik Günü'nde harfleri konuşturuyoruz: Sizi Almanca ve Türkçe baskı yapmaya davet ediyoruz. Bu etkinlikte, kendi hikâyelerini anlatan 50'li yıllardan kalma tarihî dizgi kasalarını kullanacağız. Bugün müzede bulunan eski Kreuzberg matbaasında neden bazı Türkçe harfler eksik? Birlikte bu boşlukları yaratıcı bir şekilde doldurarak toplumumuzda kültürel çeşitliliğe dayalı bir birliktelik için mesajlarımızı şekillendiriyoruz. Gelin, iz bırakın ve bizimle birlikte baskı yapın!

Etkinlik, Verein für die Schwarze Kunst e.V. derneği tarafından düzenleniyor ve el dizgisi ile kitap basımını, yazı çeşitliliği ve tarihini pratik bir şekilde deneyimlemek isteyen herkese hitap ediyor. Yapılan baskıları hatıra olarak eve götürebilirsiniz.

Katılım ücretsizdir. Kayıt yaptırmaya gerek yoktur.
