Guided tours and workshops of the Historical Printing Workshop

The history of our printing workshop began in the heart of Kreuzberg in 1928. Otto Schneider and later his son Gerd set orders for the lively business life of the neighborhood at the manual typesetting workstations. Printing was done using the platen and cylinder printing principle. The tour shows how so-called commercial print products were produced up until the 1980s - from business cards and letterheads to wedding announcements and price lists. And it's not just about watching: Every visitor can pick up a "Winkelhaken" and set a short line - just like Johannes Gutenberg invented in the 15th century.

Prof. Dr. Anne König, retired letterpress printer and professor of business administration for the printing industry and publishing houses, provides insights into the history of the workshop and the traditional methods of hand typesetting and letterpress printing.
