When was the Komische Oper Berlin founded? What do they mean by ‘Komische Opera’ or ‘comic opera’? And what’s actually behind the curtains at the Schiller Theatre? You can get answers to all these questions with a guided tour of the Komische Oper Berlin at the Schiller Theatre. Enlightened by fascinating theatre anecdotes, amusing looks back in time, and digital glimpses of the future, we take a closer look at what’s happening behind the scenes. Experience the magic of the stage up close!

Every opera production needs costumes. Sometimes they are garish and colorful, sometimes baroque, or quite plain. Who thinks up all these costumes? Where are the costumes sewn, and what happens if a seam tears during the performance? This tour is all about costumes! Through the fabric warehouse, the requisites and the costume workshop, you will get an insight into the work of the costume department of the Komische Oper Berlin.
