As we explore the planetary garden, we encounter trees, mosses and the ground, step by step. The mobile phone remains silent in our pockets. Everyday urban life is too hurried, cramped, noisy, dirty or lonely. Surrounded by the plant world, our sense of well-being changes. On this stroll, we focus our attention on the plants. You feel a pine cone beneath the soles of your feet. Through hands-on activities, we observe, listen and embark on a journey of the mind. Scientific facts deepen our personal experiences of mindfulness and reveal connections: the natural world influences the human brain and state of mind. The health of the planet is closely linked to our own well-being. At the same time, many species are quietly disappearing from the world. Ecosystems are being destroyed. The well-being of the world is at risk, yet living creatures, biological evolution and the restoration of habitats tell stories of hope.
This is not a botanical tour. It is an invitation to view the Earth as one great garden. A pine seed is washed by the rain into a bed of moss. The moss protects the seed from drying out. The seedling grows into a tree. The earth, the clouds, the trees, the fungi, the insects and the birds all thank the mosses. Should we join them?
For anyone curious about ecology, the art of mindfulness and the soothing effects of (urban) nature. Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. No prior knowledge is required. An open mind and a love of taking a deep breath are welcome.
