W. Spindler – An S-Bahn station and a district in Köpenick are still named after this family business today. From 1873 onwards, the laundry and dyeing business on the Upper Spree developed into one of Berlin’s most important industrial sites. Today, a new residential quarter, Wasserstadt Spindlersfeld, is being built on the former factory site. This guided tour shows some of the most important sites in Köpenick’s laundry history.
This guided tour is part of "Lange Woche Kiezgeschichte", a cooperation of Berliner Regionalmuseen.
Meeting point: Excursion restaurant "Mutter Lustig", Müggelheimer Str. 1, 12555 Berlin
