“Mucus” finally got its moment in the spotlight—and now it’s time to say goodbye again .
Our special exhibition “MUCUS – Secrets of an Underappreciated Body Fluid” ends on September 6 .

Of course, we won’t let it go without a fanfare. There will be a special program on the exhibition’s final day:

We’ll kick off the final tours through the slime cosmos with express guided tours. Why are snails role models for slime? Does primordial slime come from the sea? What happens during decomposition? And why do our bacteria produce their own slime?

In the lecture hall ruins, slime reveals its sensual and performative side.

In “Gootopia site specific” (“goo,” the English word for slime), the focus is on performer Ann Muller’s interaction with various slime substances. Slime is both material and performer: it performs with, on, and within her body. Human and slime touch, interconnect, and blend together; they form alliances. New connections emerge, bodily boundaries become fluid, and spaces of association open up for other, slimy, utopian life forms.

Audience members are invited to freely choose their position and perspective within this slippery universe and to understand the body as a porous, tactile organism connected to other life forms.
