As part of the exhibition Marina Abramović: Balkan Erotic Epic. The Exhibition, a family workshop will take place at the Gropius Bau.

In the exhibition Balkan Erotic Epic. The Exhibition, artist Marina Abramović intensively explores ritual practices and translates them into performative works of great visual power. This results in scenes that move between myth, physicality and cultural heritage. The Rites of Now workshop invites participants to explore these visual worlds together: Where do these rituals come from? What meaning do they have? And what effect do they have in the context of contemporary art? The workshop understands ritual not as something rigid or in the past, but as a living practice - as something that we can shape, change and reinvent ourselves and that is constantly in a state of flux.

Based on the exhibition at the Gropius Bau, participants will develop their own performative approaches. In practical exercises, individual rituals will be tested and reflected upon as a form of expression, but also as a way of making their own themes and questions visible and testing their presence. In addition, basic concepts of performance and ritual will be developed together in order to open up access to this artistic practice.

The workshop is aimed at adults and children aged 6 and over.
