Fun, games and culture across three museums and beyond. Admission is free!

The museums open at 10 am, and the Family Sunday programme starts at 11 am.

Join us for a day full of discoveries in Berlin’s historic Nikolaiviertel. There’s plenty to explore, with hands-on activities and surprises for all ages. Look forward to a circus workshop, a family concert, creative crafts, face painting and relaxed moments at the Picnic Mobile. Just drop by and join in – we look forward to seeing you!

Picnic Mobile
From 11 am to 5 pm, you’ll find coffee, lemonade and cake by the steps of the Ephraim-Palais. It’s also a place to take a break and enjoy your own snacks and drinks.

Games from the Past
Young visitors and the young at heart can try out games that children already enjoyed more than a hundred years ago.

Building Together: Woodworking for Children
Hammer, slot and build. Create small wooden projects without using hot glue.

Off to the Masquerade Ball!
A museum visit full of imagination, where the Onion Family meets the Garlic Family.

KomMit Kids
How should researchers explore what is good for our minds and wellbeing? Children and young people can share their ideas at the Freie Universität Berlin stand.

Join us for a lively discovery tour through the exhibition for the whole family.

Big Sound Workshop
Turn empty plastic bottles, tins and other everyday materials into your own string instruments with expert guidance along the way.

School Through the Ages
Take a seat at historic school desks and discover what school life was like during the German Empire. You can also share your own first-day-at-school photos with other visitors.

Object of the Month
A historic temperature display from the Sport and Recreation Centre (SEZ) in Friedrichshain. This original object from the threatened building tells part of East Berlin’s history.

Checkmate! Berlin Plays Chess
Everything revolves around chess. Whether at a table or on the giant outdoor chessboard, you can jump straight in and challenge other players. Members of SC Borussia Lichtenberg e.V. will be on hand to help.

Living Room Stories
A live speaker shares stories of everyday life among migrant Berliners in the special exhibition Wallpaper Change.

Cabuwazi Circus
Young circus performers will amaze you with a colourful street show featuring unicycles, hula hoops and more.

Join in and learn juggling, plate spinning, skipping and other circus tricks.

Careless Cats
Tap your feet and sing along at this family concert by the Berlin jazz band.

Legends and Myths of the Nikolaiviertel
How did the bear end up on Berlin’s coat of arms? And who is the “Kaak”? Find out on this family tour.

Biedermeier Meeting Point
Discover Berlin life between 1815 and 1848 through objects, documents and stories from the Knoblauch family. Our educators will be happy to answer your questions.

Face Painting for Everyone
The Nikolaiviertel shows its colourful side. Visitors of all ages can choose a look and have their faces painted.

12 pm – 4 pm | ongoing | next to the museum
Through the Museum with Children’s Eyes
The Fröbel kindergarten Schatzinsel from Berlin-Mitte introduces itself. At a hands-on station, children and adults can get creative and make colourful marble paintings together.
