Dive into the world of Edward Godwin and Oscar Wilde! In the exhibition “Dandy, Decadence, Modernity,” you will discover how strongly 19th-century art and design were influenced by Japanese culture. Japanese prints, delicate patterns, and elegant forms shaped fashion, furniture, and everyday objects in Europe. Together, you will design your own Japanese uchiwa fan, decorated with delicate cherry blossoms, flowing wave lines, graceful cranes, or colorful ornaments. Step by step, a personal artwork will emerge to accompany you through the summer days.
