International Archives Day: The Stadtmuseum Berlin's in-house archive and provenance research department present their work and answer questions
The motto of this year's Archives Day is "Archives for Justice: Rights, Memory & Futures" (#ArchivesForJustice: Rights, Memory & Futures). Against this backdrop, we offer an insight into the tasks, responsibilities and conditions of working with archives.
The Provenance Research team examines the origin of acquired cultural property. In doing so, it focuses on whether it may have been unlawfully seized from its former owners. This often brings to light not only unusual object histories, but also human fates.
In this open format, we explain how, where and what is stored and can and cannot be made available to whom in the in-house archive. Questions allowed and welcome!
