Nine-Christine Müller grew up in Thuringia after the fall of the Berlin Wall and, in the podcast she founded, explores what East German identity means today—both personally and socially. And she does so deliberately without looking back! For this evening, she has invited the writer Marko Martin, who has been known throughout Germany at least since his criticism of Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s policy toward Russia. His work will be the focus of the evening. But the event also addresses the question of how narratives about (East) Germany emerge—and what role they play in social cohesion and shaping the future. “Ostwärts: Conversations on East German Identities” is a podcast for diverse voices and perspectives from East Germany.
