Drop-In: Broken Shards Bring Good Luck

Restoring archaeological ceramic finds is part of our daily routine here at PETRI. In this drop-in workshop, you can try your hand at piecing together and gluing modern everyday ceramics. We’ll provide the shards: the more there are, the harder it gets—choose your own difficulty level! Once you’ve put your vessel back together, you can trace the fracture lines with colored markers. This turns something broken into something beautiful and transforms a mass-produced item into a unique, personal piece.

Alternatively, you can also smash your own porcelain: bring a white vessel that’s okay to break—or one that’s already broken—and turn it into a decorative piece.

This activity is open to all visitors ages 8 and up. You’ll find it on the 5th floor of PETRI. Just stop by—you can join up to 45 minutes before closing time.

The cost is included in the admission price; we welcome donations to cover material costs.
