Divided streets – divided neighbourhoods

Guided tour along the former Berlin Wall in Treptow

The 17km stretch along the border between the district of Treptow and the districts of Kreuzberg and Neukölln was the longest section of the Berlin Wall. In the area around Bouché-, Harzer- and Heidelberger Straße, the border even ran right through a residential area, separating entire neighbourhoods. Numerous spectacular escape attempts took place here, some of which ended tragically.

This guided tour is part of "Lange Woche Kiezgeschichte", a cooperation by Berliner Regionalmuseen.

Meeting point: Plänterwald S-Bahn station
