A special exhibition at the Ephraim-Palais on art and migration in Berlin since the 1970s.
The special exhibition “Divided Lives: Art and Migration in Berlin” sets out to uncover traces of this history. It features art from the 1980s to the present day related to migration. Rarely seen works from the Berlin Museum’s collection and several loans tell stories of exile, everyday life, and self-determination.
Archival material and audio interviews with the artists complement the exhibition and offer new, cross-border perspectives on Berlin’s history and stories. Join the curators for a conversation and discover the exhibition on a guided tour!
Concurrently with “Shared Lives: Art and Migration in Berlin,” the Gropius Bau is presenting the exhibition “Kreuzberg: Art and Migration since 1960.” This exhibition focuses on art created in connection with labor migration in Kreuzberg.
