Collages in Space: Children’s Worlds Layered, Built, and Discovered

For International Children’s Day, we create collages that show what matters to children, their ideas, dreams, favorite places, and imaginary worlds. Sheets of paper, cardboard, photographs, and cut-out images come together layer by layer and cut by cut.

Individual fragments merge into new compositions where patterns and structures tell their own stories.

By using different paper weights and textures, the collages gain depth, rhythm, and surprise. From what seems separate, a vibrant whole emerges, a personal image of what is important to children or how they see their world.

Participants are welcome to bring their own pictures, photos, or magazines. Alternatively, all materials are provided. The finished collages can be taken home immediately.
