“That feeling of waking up and knowing: today is really Christmas. What we’d been talking about for three months, what we’d been hoping for for so long—now it was finally here!”

Christmas isn’t just a time of wonderful scents and children’s eyes sparkling with joy—it’s also a time of mishaps: the wrong gifts, crooked Christmas trees, and tree cakes that have been nibbled on. Hans Fallada captured the magic, the laughter, and the melancholy of Christmas in numerous well-known stories. His stories often depict a magical childhood world and the sense of togetherness in difficult times.

Actress Inga Bruderek reads the most beautiful Christmas stories and fairy tales by Hans Fallada, who spent the last years of his life not far from the castle on Majakowskiring.Translated with DeepL
