Carl Legien residential city

The naming of the streets in the residential area of Carl Legien by architects Bruno Taut and Franz Hillinger (1928 - 1930) reflects the eventful history of Berlin in the 20th century. The tour sheds light on the conflict-laden (re)naming processes in the Weimar Republic, after 1933, in 1945 and in the years after reunification. Not an architectural tour - the focus is on the political and social significance of street names.
