Exhibition Talk for Adults

Rembrandt, Moses mit den Gesetzestafeln (Detail), 1659

Rembrandt, Moses mit den Gesetzestafeln (Detail), 1659

Lutz Stöppler explores the question of why the painter chose Old Testament figures such as Moses, Jacob and Samson as the subjects of his art. In doing so, he discusses the nature of the art market during the so-called Golden Age of the Netherlands. Rembrandt’s personality, of course, also plays an important role.

A ‘Who’s Who’ of art history awaits you in one of the most significant museums of European painting from the 13th to the 18th century. The weekly guided tour focusing on individual artists offers you an entertaining and inspiring overview of the Gemäldegalerie’s collection.
