The Berlinische Galerie is offering a new format that focuses on its extensive graphic art collection: Works of art, especially graphic works, literally shape our 'cityscape' of different eras. Artists are also contemporary witnesses when they record social changes with a pencil or an etching needle.

The event with art historian Britta Bode combines three things: it allows a look at the detailed pencil drawings by multimedia artist Marc Brandenburg (*1965). Afterwards, a tour of the newly installed permanent exhibition "Art in Berlin 1880-1980" leads to the changing depictions of the city in painting and photography. An exclusive visit to the Graphic Art Collection rounds off the afternoon: Original sheets from the depot will be presented. There will be a rare opportunity to view drawings, watercolors, lithographs and etchings - from Max Beckmann and Werner Heldt to Monika Meiser and Rainer Fetting - up close and discuss them together: Berlin in the picture - the drawn city.
