After 1945

Public Tour (in German)

This tour introduces the permanent exhibition with a focus on the historical period after 1945.

An examination of the iconic architecture of the museum building is part of the exhibition tour.

An approximately 40-metre-long walkway runs through the post-1945 period room as an expansive element. Restitution and "Wiedergutmachung", the triangular relationship between Germany, Israel and Jews in Germany, as well as the waves of immigration and emigration of Jews to and from Germany will also be discussed, as will Russian-speaking immigration from 1990 onwards.

In a final chorus, Jews will speak on 21 monitors about being Jewish in Germany. The images and original sounds come together to form a polyphonic final chord of Jewish life today.Translated with DeepL
