With German reunification, Patty loses her job and her sense of direction. The woman in her 50s leaves her job at a film studio behind and drifts first through the squares of Kyffhäuser and eventually deeper and deeper into the forest and a state of inner exile. Luise Donschen portrays the period of German reunification as a character’s contemplative search for the future. Through artfully framed images and minimal dialogue, she creates a poetic snapshot that translates history into film with great subtlety.
