The Kunstbibliothek holds the estate of architect Erich Mendelsohn (1887–1953). In 1926, the 250th anniversary year of the United States, he published his impressions of a trip to the United States in "America: An Architect’s Picture Book" – the same year that a commission took him to the USSR. In 1929, he brought these observations together in the politically charged volume "Russia, Europe, America: An Architectural Cross-Section."
Mendelsohn expert Regina Stephan analyzes both books. In conversation with Maren Wienigk, curator of the Kunstbibliothek, his international work is further explored.
