“ë” with Jehona Kicaj and “And We Came Every Summer” with Elona Beqiraj

Even if one did not experience the war first-hand, its traces are etched into family histories – in memories as well as in what remains unspoken. Between remembering and forgetting, gaps and a certain silence emerge, passed down through generations.

The works of Jehona Kicaj and Elona Beqiraj deal with the war in Kosovo, which ended over 25 years ago but continues to resonate to this day. Both authors engage with this past in different ways while addressing similar questions: What does this war mean for me and my family? And what is it like to live between different worlds – between one’s parents’ country of origin and growing up in Germany, in search of one’s own identity?

We warmly invite you to a reading and discussion with the two authors, Elona Beqiraj and Jehona Kicaj.
