musica reanimata – Gesprächskonzert

Der Sohn eines Rabbiners: Josef Tal – Klavierwerke aus 70 Jahren

With its 175th concert-lecture, musica reanimata focuses on an artist who, like few others, embodies the tension between exile, new beginnings, and musical innovation: Josef Tal (1910–2008) is one of the pioneers of Israeli music. As a composer, pianist, theorist, and pioneer of electronic music in Israel, Tal shaped the musical life of the 20th century on an international level—and yet remains an insider tip to this day. With great innovative power and expressive depth, he developed his own musical language. The piano plays a special role in his entire oeuvre. Here, his compositional development can be traced step by step. Israeli pianist Ofra Yitzhaki performs exemplary works from all his creative periods. The concert is commented on by Yuval Shaked, an expert on the development and history of Israeli art music, and by Tal's student Reinhard Flender.
