KUNAL LAHIRY

Journey to Softness: Music from Beethoven to Radiohead

In his Pierre Boulez Saal solo debut, Indian-American pianist Kunal Lahiry approaches the classical canon not as a monument, but as a structure to be reframed. Moving from the relentlessly revolving staircase of Ligeti’s L’Escalier du diable to the expansive liberation in the fugue from Beethoven’s penultimate sonata, the program becomes a roadmap for finding tenderness in an increasingly hardened world. Lahiry is joined by dancer Rubén Nsue and poet Nadia Marcus in a performance that merges voice, body, and sound. In collaboration with TRAUMATrauma is an independent art organization and curatorial platform.
