Francesca Marongiu

Electronic music composer and sound designer Francesca Marongiu is originally from Rome, now based in Tuscany. Her work moves between sound, memory and place, blending acoustic sensitivity with electronic processes and weaving ambient forms into atmospheric compositions.

Peder Simonsen is a Norwegian musician, composer, instrument builder and brass researcher. His practice focuses on just intonation, microtonality and long-duration sound, using sustained tones to explore overtones and acoustic space.

The three Kiezsalon concert evenings at the  Akademie der Künste are a project by  Digital in Berlin and in collaboration with the Akademie der Künste's Studio for Electroacoustic Music. Curated by Michael Rosen and funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. Presented by The Wire and taz, die tageszeitung.

 

Kiezsalon

Since 2015, the Kiezsalon has offered a forum for innovative musical activity beyond genre boundaries. As an interface between avant-garde, advanced pop music and interdisciplinary art, the series presents compact shows by artists of diverse genres, origin and status. Today, it is considered unique in the independent scene of the German music landscape in terms of its direction and continuity, and has established itself as one of the most popular and successful music series in the city.

Since 2020, the Kiezsalon has benefited from the Senate Department for Culture’s four-year funding program, which provides planning and financial security until 2027. The concerts are usually sold out and regularly feature a high number of Berlin premieres—often more than 70 % each year. In doing so, the Kiezsalon makes a significant contribution to the visibility of new artistic perspectives.
