Mit dem Inselfest rund um den UNESCO-Welterbetag führt die Museumsinsel Berlin die Feierlichkeiten zu 200 Jahren Museumsinsel fort. Teil des Programms sind auch mehrere Workshops für Familien und Kinder.

With the Island Festival surrounding UNESCO World Heritage Day, Berlin's Museum Island continues its celebrations of its 200th anniversary. Following its successful premiere last year, the Island Festival is now entering its second year and will take place on June 6th and 7th.

Look forward to another varied program with free guided tours, workshops, and special surprises in the museums – all centered around the history, architecture, and unique collections of Museum Island. The popular surprise tours are also back – the destination will remain a secret until the start. Many of the Island Festival's activities will again be free and outdoors.

The concerts are once again among the highlights of this year’s Island Festival. Performances by the Deutsches Theater, the Salonorchester Unter’n Linden and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester round off the daytime programme on stage in the Kolonnadenhof. On Saturday evening, a special musical act – the Bene Aperdannier Trio – will transform Museum Island into an atmospheric open-air stage.

Berlin’s Museum Island has been a ‘sanctuary for art and science’ for 200 years – a place of freedom, participation and, ultimately, democracy. This year’s UNESCO World Heritage Day is themed ‘Together for Peace and Understanding’. What does this mean for art and culture? Answers to this question will be provided by Democracy Day on Sunday, 7 June, as part of the Island Festival.

Another highlight: on Friday 5 June and the morning of 6 June, the Chorverband Berlin e.V. will be hosting the #dabei open air festival on Museum Island. This is more than just a concert: it thrives on open togetherness. To mark the 125th anniversary of the Chorverband Berlin, 16 choirs will showcase the diversity of Berlin’s choral scene and beyond – from newly formed to experienced, from classical to pop. In the Colonnade Courtyard on Museum Island, the boundaries between stage and audience will blur as sing-along sessions invite everyone to become part of the sound. Lively and communal – a choral festival where everyone can join in!

With the day ticket for the Island Festival during the festival weekend, adults can visit all the museums on Museum Island for €16 (concessions €8). It is valid for all six museums on Museum Island: the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Bode Museum, Pergamon.Das Panorama and the James-Simon-Galerie. In addition, this year for the first time, the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche and PETRI Berlin are included in the ticket.

Holders of an annual pass (Basic, Classic or Classic Plus) may bring one additional person free of charge at the weekend.

Admission to events in the outdoor areas of Museum Island is free. Children and young people under the age of 18 are always admitted free of charge.
