A musical theatre piece in five acts by Manos Tsangaris, set in the exhibition halls of “Metaxy : Between Destruction and Reconstruction” performed by the ensemble El Perro Andaluz. The performance marks the conclusion of the “Time to Listen” conference.
In this station theatre piece composer Manos Tsangaris explores the gradual performative formation of an ensemble. Taking as its starting point relationships between pairs, relationships between two pairs, and the innate ability to hear even around objects and corners, an ensemble gradually takes shape through abstract musical and theatrical means. The trailer for the piece gives an impression of what to expect.
The performance marks the conclusion of the “Time to Listen” conference, which explores transnational collaboration and networks in contemporary music. The conference is jointly organised by field notes / inm and the Music Section of the Akademie der Künste, and is being staged in collaboration with Musikfonds e.V..
El Perro Andaluz
Founded in 2007 through a collaboration with Brian Ferneyhough, El Perro Andaluz has rapidly established itself as one of the most versatile ensembles for contemporary music and performance in Germany. The ensemble’s name is a reference to the short film Un chien andalou, drawing on its blend of artistic and friendly collaboration, playful provocation and the exploration of new forms of expression. Since its inception, El Perro Andaluz has been active in various musical fields – music theatre, installations, concerts and music education projects. Having been awarded the City of Dresden’s Cultural Promotion Prize, the ensemble has been based at the Dresden cultural centre “Zentralwerk” since 2016.
