Berliner Philharmoniker: Zubin Mehta and Pinchas Zukerman with Bruch’s First Violin Concerto

  • Zubin Mehta

    – Zubin Mehta

  • Pinchas Zukerman

    – Pinchas Zukerman

Antonín Dvořák became famous for the folk-inspired Bohemian character of his music. But in his Symphony No. 7 he shows a very different side: none of his earlier symphonies war as dark, melancholic, and defiant. In contrast, Max Bruch’s First Violin Concerto, his best-known work, captivates with its beguiling lyricism and elegant virtuosity. The solo part is performed by Pinchas Zukerman, who, like conductor Zubin Mehta, has been associated with the Berliner Philharmoniker for decades. The evening opens with the sparkling overture to Mozart’s opera Le nozze di Figaro.
