A spectacular finish: The Berliner Philharmoniker’s concert season concludes at the Waldbühne with a dazzling celebration of dance, rhythm and orchestral colour. The Berlin air is filled with the lively sounds of csárdás and waltzes from Johann Strauss, a seductive scene from Strauss’s opera Salome, the magical world of Stravinsky’s The Firebird, and the decadent flair of Ravel’s La Valse. The star guest of the evening is violinist Augustin Hadelich, who performs two virtuosic showpieces: Ravel’s Hungarian-inspired Tzigane and the brilliant Carmen Fantasy by Pablo de Sarasate. On the podium is Daniel Harding, whose close association with the Berliner Philharmoniker spans three decades.
