Two brilliant examples of Viennese Classicism: In Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 – both lyrical and virtuosic – Yun Zeng, principal horn of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 2024, makes his solo debut with the orchestra. Maxim Emelyanchev takes on dual roles as conductor and pianist: at the fortepiano, he performs Haydn’s elegant Piano Concerto No. 11, before conducting the composer’s festive and suspenseful Symphony No. 104. The concert opens with Mendelssohn’s concert overture Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage.
