Berliner Philharmoniker: Kirill Petrenko conducts Beethoven’s Missa solemnis

Kirill Petrenko

– Kirill Petrenko

The Missa solemnis is one of Beethoven’s most personal works – a passionate affirmation of faith and humanity. It draws on the traditions of sacred music, yet, in its monumental conception, reaches far beyond them. Beethoven gives musical expression to the liturgical text, from the dramatic Kyrie to the final, urgent plea for peace. This performance, marking the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death, is conducted by Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker as part of our Biennale “Signs and Wonders”.

Artists/Collaborators: Golda Schultz, Wiebke Lehmkuhl, Sebastian Kohlhepp, David Steffens, Rundfunkchor Berlin
