For their season opener with us, Akamus have chosen “Il Delirio amoroso” this time, a masterpiece from Handel’s Italian period. Said “love-madness” leads the shepherdess Clori even to descend into the underworld in her search for her beloved Tirsi. Soloist Jiayu Jin is currently one of the most sought-after voices in early music, having won awards at events including the International Cesti Baroque Opera Competition in Innsbruck. Her collaboration with Akamus began last year at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.The winner of numerous awards, performing all over the world and long celebrated on our stage for its subscription series: the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin is as renowned for its authentic sound as it is for continually unearthing musical treasures from the 17th to the 19th centuries and presenting familiar works – from Bach, Handel and Telemann to Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven – in a fresh light.
