Die Generalprobe - Marathon Rehearsal

Runners in Berlin

Four weeks before the Berlin Marathon, runners can check their own running performance.

Thousands of running enthusiasts take part in the Berliner Straßenlauf (Berlin Street Run), which is also known as Die Generalproble (The Dress Rehearsal) for the Berlin Marathon. They can put their stamina to the test. There are two distances to choose from: a quarter marathon of 10.5 km and a half marathon of 21 km, which involves completing two laps through the Berlin neighborhoods of Steglitz, Zehlendorf and Wilmersdorf. Participants will pass the iconic milestones Bierpinsel and Steglitzer Kreisel. Children can put their skills to the test at the very beginning over distances of between 500 and 1,000 meters. The cheering zone is located at Rüdesheimer Platz.

Route

The start is on Schloßstraße (Steglitz), behind the Schloßstraße / Ahornstraße intersection. The route is a 10.5 km circuit that has to be run twice through the districts of Steglitz, Wilmersdorf and Zehlendorf.
