BER Airport: More passengers in first half of the year

Travel operations at BER Airport

Travelers walk through Terminal 1 at Berlin Brandenburg Airport "Willy Brandt" (BER).

In the first half of 2025, more people took off and landed at BER than in the same period last year.

From January to June, 12.1 million people flew to and from BER, according to airport boss Aletta von Massenbach. This was an increase of two percent. However, the airport was once again unable to reach the level of the important reference year 2019.

92,500 take-offs and landings in the first half of 2025

According to the airport, the number of take-offs and landings rose year-on-year from around 87,000 to 92,500. However, a good 17.5 million passengers were counted at Berlin's Tegel and Schönefeld airports in the first half of 2019. The number of take-offs and landings at that time was 145,000. 2019 is considered an important benchmark in the tourism industry. After that, the coronavirus pandemic caused a slump and major changes in the perception of air travel.
