Demolished Wuhlheide Bridge: Cars can drive again from Friday

Wuhlheide Bridge: Streetcars are running again

Cars should be able to drive here again from Friday.

At the site of the demolished Wuhlheide Bridge in Berlin-Oberschöneweide (Treptow-Köpenick), cars will be able to drive again from tomorrow (June 6, 2025).

From around 2 p.m., "vehicle traffic can be gradually resumed", the traffic administration announced.

Traffic initially single-lane

Initially, one lane of traffic will be open between Treskowallee and Edisonstraße. The "outer lanes between Rummelsburger Straße and An der Wuhlheide Straße" should then also be open by midday on Saturday. Only turning left from Rummelsburger Straße into Treskowallee will still not be possible. According to the traffic administration, the demolition of the bridge is largely complete. Final dismantling and crushing work is still ongoing. Everything should be finished by June 27 at the latest.

Streetcars have been running again since the end of May

The dilapidated bridge at Wuhlheide was completely closed in mid-May, including to traffic under the 245-metre-long structure. Traffic on the bridge had already been closed since the end of April. According to the traffic administration, regular inspections had revealed an increasing number of cracks along the entire length of the bridge. Demolition began on May 24. Streetcars have been able to travel on the bridge again since the end of May.
