Starting signal for the lido season: The Sommerbad Kreuzberg opens its doors on April 30 as the first outdoor pool in Berlin.
The summer pools at Insulaner, Olympiastadion and Wilmersdorf as well as Strandbad Wannsee will follow on May 1, according to Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB).
Due to cost-cutting measures, the outdoor pools will not be heated this year. The water is only heated by solar radiation and the outside temperature. According to Bäder-Betriebe, six pools with regenerative heat generation are excluded: Sommerbad Pankow, Sommerbad Mariendorf, Kombibad Gropiusstadt, Kombibad Seestraße, Sommerbad Staaken West and one pool at Sommerbad Kreuzberg.
From May 5, new admission prices will apply at all BBB pools. If you book online, you will pay a little less for admission to the outdoor pool. It will be cheaper if you book early or if there is not much going on. However, visitors must commit to a specific time slot.
