Another section of Berlin's Mauerpark is being renovated. Between the amphitheater and the Max-Schmeling-Halle, paths, technical infrastructure and green spaces totaling approximately 7,500 square meters will be renewed and slopes will be stabilized, according to Grün Berlin, a state-owned agency.
The amphitheater itself, where karaoke takes place on Sundays during the summer months, will also undergo renovations in the outer areas, and access to the stage will be made more accessible.
On the hillside, work will include repairing erosion damage and planting new trees. The goal is to create resilient, climate-adapted green spaces that can withstand the effects of heavy rain and drought, as well as intensive use. The graffiti areas on the historic Hinterland Wall will remain available in sections even during the renovation. In addition, temporary alternative spaces for graffiti will be set up.
In contrast, large sections south of the amphitheater toward Eberswalder Straße can be used again following construction work. There, too, meadows were restored, trees were planted and infrastructure for irrigation and drainage was installed. However, smaller sections remain closed so that the newly planted meadows can become established. The restoration of the Sonnenhügel, including the amphitheater, is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027. Afterward, the streetball court on Schwedter Straße will be renovated.
