The environmental administration and three state companies want to pull together on the topic of climate-friendly urban redevelopment. The Senate Administration, Grün Berlin GmbH, Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH and Berliner Wasserbetriebe have agreed to cooperate to this end: the Blue-Green Alliance.
The common goal is to implement climate-stable projects from planning and financing to construction and operation, according to the environmental administration. Blue stands for water, green for vegetation - both in contrast to the concrete gray of roads and buildings. The first joint projects will be the redesign of Platz der Luftbrücke, the Rathaus- and Marx-Engels-Forum with the Rotes Rathaus, the Kulturforum with the Philharmonie and the Park am Gleisdreieck with the Museum of Technology.
Blue-green infrastructure not only protects people and nature, but is also necessary from an economic point of view. On the one hand, this is about reducing the costs caused by climate change and, on the other, about using rainwater efficiently. "Climate adaptation measures are a public service," commented Environment Senator Ute Bonde (CDU) on the cooperation agreement. "It is essential for the public sector to set an example here."
