The state wants to secure the emergency shelter for homeless women "Evas Obdach" ("Eva's Shelter") through a purchase. The project in Fuldastrasse in Neukölln was threatened with closure, according to the social welfare administration.

The future of the year-round facility with 30 emergency overnight places was discussed for months after the lease was terminated at the end of June 2025. The building had been sold. The rental apartments and commercial premises inside are to be converted into property. Social Affairs Senator Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD) has worked to secure the project. According to the social administration, the state of Berlin has now been able to acquire several residential units there.

Project is supported by Social Association of Catholic Women

The free offer for homeless women includes the opportunity to rest in "Eva's Obdach" or spend the night there, eat something, wash or shower. Social Affairs Senator Kiziltepe plans to present details on the purchase of the rooms in "Eva's Shelter" on March 10. Employees of the facility and Gabriele Kuhn-Zuber, board member of the Catholic Women's Social Service (SKF), will also be present at the event.
