Over the next three weekends, passengers on the north-south line of Berlin's S-Bahn will once again have to be prepared for considerable restrictions.
Due to maintenance work in the North-South Tunnel, the S1, S2, S25 and S26 lines will be interrupted between Südkreuz and Gesundbrunnen from next Friday, 10 p.m., until Monday morning, 1:30 a.m., according to the railroad company.
On the following two weekends from January 17 to 20 and from January 24 to 27, only the section between Yorckstraße and Gesundbrunnen will be closed. The S2, S25 and S26 lines will be interrupted again. According to the information provided, however, nothing will change for the S1. Deutsche Bahn is using replacement buses, but recommends using the subway or regional services. It was only around a year ago that the North-South S-Bahn Tunnel was closed for several weeks at a time due to extensive renovation work. Now maintenance work is necessary again. Among other things, tamping work needs to be carried out on the new tracks that were laid last year.
