Bans on dangerous objects at Berlin train stations

Bundespolizei

The federal police has issued a ban on carrying dangerous objects for several Berlin train stations on four weekends.

The stations in question are Alexanderplatz, Warschauer Straße and Ostkreuz, the federal police said Wednesday. The ban will apply from Oct. 20 to Nov. 19 on Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday nights from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.

High number of violent crimes

The Federal Police Headquarters Berlin had last issued a ban on carrying dangerous objects on Berlin rail services in March and July of this year. The background to the ban, according to the federal police, is the high number of violent crimes involving the use of dangerous objects that have been occurring for years. Accordingly, these include various knives, irritant gas or striking objects.
