New women's shelter opened in Berlin

For women affected by violence and their children, another women's shelter has recently opened in Berlin. It is the eighth women's shelter in the capital, the Senate Department for Social Services announced.

On Wednesday, Federal Ministry for Family Affairs Lisa Paus (Green Party), Berlin's Senator for Social Services Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD) and Elke Büdenbender, wife of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, took a look at the 40-place shelter. This means that 477 acute shelter places are now available for women and their children throughout the city, the Senate Department for Social Services announced. Alternatively, affected persons could still find refuge in special apartments. The location of the women's shelter, which is managed by AWO Berlin-Mitte, remains secret for the protection of the residents.
