During the summer holidays in Berlin, passengers have to prepare for restrictions in S-Bahn traffic due to long-planned construction work.
Construction is mainly taking place on the northern and eastern outskirts of the city. However, some sections of the Ringbahn are also affected. The S-Bahn wants to modernize the control and safety technology and build electronic interlockings on the lines. In most cases, bus replacement services will be provided during the closure period.
Construction work will be carried out on the S8 line between Blankenburg and Birkenwerder (July 12 to August 14), on the S1 line between Frohnau and Oranienburg (July 14 to August 14) and on the S5 line between Strausberg and Strausberg Nord (July 17 to August 7).
There will also be restrictions on the Ringbahn. Among other things, the section between Hermannstraße and Halensee will be closed from July 14 to 17. The section between Baumschulenweg/Treptower Park and Tempelhof will not be used from July 21 to July 24. The lines between the Baumschulenweg and Warschauer Straße stops (July 28 to August 7) and between Beusselstraße and Gesundbrunnen (August 11 to August 14) will also be closed.
