More vehicles and longer trains will be on the move on the Berlin Ringbahn tracks.
As the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association VBB announced on Wednesday, trains with eight instead of six cars will run on the S41 and S42 lines. According to the information, this affects the so-called regular train group, i.e. the basic service of the ring lines with a 10-minute frequency during the day and a 15-minute frequency at night.
According to VBB, new vehicles will be used in the process. "Passengers on the S-Bahn ring will thus benefit from the higher level of quality, including air conditioning and better passenger information," the VBB says. Such trains are already in service on lines S46, S47 and S8. From October 2023, only new vehicles are to be used on the Ringbahn, i.e., also for the amplifier trips at times of high demand.
