Free entry to swimming pools for people on low incomes

Schwimmbad

Holders of the entitlement certificate (Berechtigungsnachweis) or berlinpass-BuT can swim for free in Berlin's indoor swimming pools from mid-February.

This was decided by the Berlin Senate on Tuesday. The offer starts on February 15 and is valid until December 31 in all participating indoor swimming pools of the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB). Around 680,000 Berliners will be able to benefit.

Free swimming from Monday to Saturday

The offer is valid from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and on Saturday during the entire opening period of the respective bath. In order to receive free admission, those concerned must present their proof of eligibility or berlinpass, as well as an ID card or student ID.

Social participation for children and young people

Sports Senator Iris Spranger welcomed the Senate's decision: "I am very pleased and grateful to all those involved that with this further building block we are enabling more than 680,000 children, young people and adults to continue to participate in society despite all their sacrifices and restrictions." Social Senator Katja Kipping also emphasised the relevance of social participation: "Especially for children in these difficult times of crisis, it is particularly important to get a change of mind and just have fun for once".
