Berlin wants to become even more attractive for film and series productions.

On Tuesday, the Berlin Senate passed a resolution to improve the procedures for filming in the capital and to provide greater support for filmmakers. The general conditions must be adapted to the increasing and changing requirements of a film industry in a state of flux," it said in a statement on Tuesday.

Initiative for a more film industry-friendly city

According to this, the Senate had already launched the "Filmfreundliche Stadt" (Film-Friendly City) initiative in 1999. Back in June, Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) announced that filmmakers would in future have a central point of contact instead of several, so that they could obtain filming permits more easily. Giffey will explain what the concept will look like in concrete terms at a press event on Wednesday.
