Track closures between Ostbahnhof and Friedrichstraße

Due to repair work, there will be train track closures in Berlin between Ostbahnhof and Friedrichstraße station on Wednesday.

This was announced by Deutsche Bahn on Tuesday evening. From 1.30 am to 11 am both tracks between Ostbahnhof and Friedrichstraße would be closed. Between 11 am and 21 am only one track will be used. Between 9 pm and 6 am on Thursday, both tracks will be closed again. According to Deutsche Bahn, S-Bahn traffic is not affected. However, there are effects on long-distance and local traffic.

Effects on long-distance traffic

The RE 2 regional express from the west ends in Berlin Friedrichstraße. The RE 1 will take a detour between Berlin-Wannsee, Gesundbrunnen, Lichtenberg and Köpenick. There will be no stops on the Stadtbahn between Charlottenburg and Ostkreuz. The RE 7 from the west ends at Zoologischer Garten station, as does the RB 14 regional train. According to Deutsche Bahn, long-distance trains will be rerouted within Berlin. Some stops will be cancelled. Deutsche Bahn asks all travelers to inform themselves about their actual departure and arrival times before starting their journey.
